Blogging Bootcamp Review

Be a successful Blogger. It’s not who you are, it’s what you say (kinda)

Walk a fine line

Presentation matters

Honing your blog Voice

Timely?
It’s not an email newsletter that get’s sent out once a month. It’s not. It’s instant. Therefore, last week’s news will not cut it.

Quick Witted
http://reagentinct.com/category/bad-mls-photo-of-the-day/ The Photos are good but it’s the pithy one-liners that make this blog!

Informational
Visit Joe Manausa’s blog if you need to know every piece of market data about Tallassee. He has more graphs and charts than CNN on Super Tuesday. But that’s his “hook” or his “Blog voice”

http://www.manausa.com/blog/07/survey-says-ap-aol-money-finance-poll/

Controversial
Only Lucas would be crazy enough to do this… He was sued for 25M for giving inaccurate data on his blog. So what did he do? He then blogged about it! Classic!

Be in it for the long haul

I love an analogy that Seth Godin made. A blog post is like one frame of a movie. Just that frame isn’t enough to win an Academy Award. A blog is the same way. One good post doesn’t build readership. It’s continually delivering a solid and valuable content.

Keep your blog updated!

  • Create a reoccurring event to write on your blog
  • Ghost Blogging – Pay someone to write for you
  • Guest Blogging – Get their audience and share “link love”
  • Get articles from your preferred partners

Don’t forget “Link Love”!

Every link to your website translates to another “endorsement” to your website which then builds your “TrustRank”

  • Deep Link
  • Endorsements from outside sources
    • ActiveRain.com
    • Realtown.com
    • Localism.com
    • Zillow.com
    • BiggerPockets.com
    • Social Networks (www.rewebguides.com)
    • Wikis (InmanWiki.com)
    • Wikipedia
  • Listing Syndication
  • Get Connected in the Blogosphere
  • Connect with Local Sources
  • Local Press – Online News Room http://www.dakno.com/new.php
    • Know the editors
    • Interact
    • Dovetail off of their stories
    • Be the resource of information

Content

Multimedia in Blogs

Videos can enhance your blog and give you additional exposure - www.tubemogul.com

Podcasting – (via Wordpress Plugin)

WordPress in Overdrive

Dynamically pull content into other sources - http://www.dakno.com/

The Blog Following Ladder

  • Stumbled across your blog (from a link??)
  • Dedicated Readers
  • Begin to interact via comments (keep in mind that people who comment are generally not leads)
  • Subscribers
  • Engagers

Blog Success

Measured in so many areas

  • Search engine optimization
  • New Clients (direct or indirect)
  • Press
  • Shown as the Expert

In closing, find an audience. Find out what they are searching for, listing to, etc. Deliver that message loud and clear and keep the focus on them. Be the Expert. Give Value. Start a conversation. You will get rewarded

The best advice I can give is to just do it.

Blogging is a Marathon - Not a Sprint!

Posted on May 12th, 2008

Like any “hot new real estate marketing strategy“, blogging has its fair share of “fast starters”. Because real estate blogging is such the “buzz“, it seems all the agent and broker “water cooler talk” centers around who has started blogging at Active Rain, Real Town or maybe on their own personal blogs. It’s possible you may have been swept up by the blog talk and jumped into the fray. Many agents and brokers jump into blogging without knowing much about it or even how to do it right! That is the premise behind blogging boot camp. Blogging boot camp will train you to maximize this powerful tool and understand how it will positively impact your business. Just remember to think of blogging as a marathon and not a sprint!
